Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Vice Chairman Seth Panyako has accused President William Ruto of having no time for opposing viewpoints in his administration.
During an interview, Panyako said that his unceremonious departure from UDA was because Ruto didn’t want his opposing viewpoints and actually pushed him out.
“He (Ruto) told me that you are opposed to all government programs, including the housing levy and fuel VAT.”
“It is therefore untenable for you to continue being an official of the party (UDA) while opposing the party’s programmes,” Ruto said Panyako.
The Secretary General of the Kenya National Union of Nurses clarified that he resigned from UDA not because of other concerns that arose, but because Ruto asked him to quit because of his stance.
According to Panyako, he had not spoken to Ruto since the August 2022 elections, and the call requesting his resignation was the first.
“He was calling to ask me to leave his party because I disagree with the government’s policies.” I don’t believe the President has time for opposing viewpoints.
“I don’t believe he listens to anyone.” “I believe he listens to himself,” Panyako explained.
