According to recent developments, a handshake between President William Ruto and his predecessor-turned-foe Uhuru Kenyatta is possible.
This was reported by Uhuru’s former advisor and political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi following a meeting yesterday in Abuja, Nigeria, between the former Head of State and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
The meetings between Uhuru and Mudavadi, according to Ngunyi, are not coincidental, given that the Prime Cabinet Secretary is Ruto’s right-hand man.
He speculated that the meeting could be part of a larger effort behind the scenes to reunite Ruto and Uhuru following their harsh feud in the run-up to the 2022 General Election.
Ngunyi believes the two will reunite soon because Uhuru is a peacemaker and the two need each other.
“Because he is a peacemaker, Uhuru Kenyatta will make peace with William Ruto.” In Burundi, he met Mudavadi. And in Nigeria, I met Mudavadi. This is not an accident. Uhuru is required by Ruto. “Uhuru requires Ruto,” he tweeted.
Ngunyi’s charges may signal death for Azimio Leader Raila Odinga, who will be alienated by Uhuru and Ruto’s handshake.
Uhuru has been Raila’s faithful buddy since 2018, when he fell out with Ruto and supported his failed fifth presidential bid.
Uhuru and Mudavadi met yesterday in Nigeria after attending President Bola Tinubu’s inauguration on Monday.
While in Nigeria, Uhuru delivered a keynote talk on the importance of peace and reconciliation, while also urging President Tinubu to embrace dialogue.
On May 7, the two met on the sidelines of the 11th high-level summit for peace and security in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and throughout East Africa.
The gathering took place in Bujumbura, Burundi.
