Senior pastor Ezekiel Odero of the New Life and Prayer Centre and Church has been dealt a serious blow after officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) seized the “holy water” and white handkerchiefs in his church for forensic examination.
A senior DCI officer with knowledge of the investigations said that holy water and white handkerchiefs will be subjected to chemical testing to determine whether the pastor used any illegal drugs to stupefy his flock.
Pastor Ezekiel’s lawyers, led by Danstan Omari, Jared Magolo, Shadrack Wambui, and Cliff Ombeta, spoke to the media on Monday and expressed their dismay at the low to which DCI had sunk in tainting the reputation of the’man of God’.
“We’re stunned. The government chemist will test the water, as we have been informed. We don’t know what the test for the prayed-for divine water will be. I’m curious what they’ll find. The pleadings? Omari smiled.
In connection with the Shakahola massacre, where Pastor Paul Makenzie, his accomplice, is charged with murdering his adherents and disposing of their bodies in the Shakahola forest, Pastor Ezekiel is also under investigation.
242 bodies have already been unearthed by police.
