Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) would benefit from enhanced salary in the fiscal year 2023/2024, according to leaked notes from a top-secret meeting.

The County Assembly speakers, according to the stolen data, will be the greatest winners, with a rise estimated at Ksh70,000 over two fiscal years.

According to an SRC representative, the wage rise would apply to all state officers beginning in the fiscal year 2023/2024.

County speakers now get a gross monthly pay of Ksh525,525, which is expected to be increased to Ksh562,312 in the fiscal year 2023/2024.

According to the Proposed Remuneration Structure for State Officers in the County Assembly, county speakers will be paid Ksh601,674 for the fiscal year 2024/2025.

While county assembly speakers are projected to earn hefty wage increases, other county assembly members will experience slightly lower gains.

Despite prior calls for bigger pay increases, MCAs will get a yearly salary of Ksh10,000 under the SRC plan.

An MCA now earns a gross salary of Ksh144,375, which is scheduled to rise to Ksh154,481 and Ksh164,588 in the fiscal years 2023/2024 and 2024/2025, respectively.

In terms of compensation, there is also a significant disparity between the county assembly speaker and his deputy.

According to the proposal, the deputy speaker will be paid Ksh247,943 each month, while the speaker will be paid Ksh601,674.

SRC, on the other hand, will raise the compensation of majority and minority leaders from Ksh216,563 to Ksh231,722 in the fiscal year 2023/2024, and to Ksh204,717 in the fiscal year 2024/2025.
