Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta are apparently planning a strategy meeting to make President William Ruto’s life a living hell.
The Azimio coalition’s Parliamentary Group will convene on Tuesday, with Raila and Uhuru among those in attendance.
This was confirmed by Azimio’s executive council chairperson Wycliffe Oparanya, who stated that the meeting will detail the Azimio coalition’s next plan.
“Our meeting this week is scheduled for Tuesday at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation.” “We will notify the public of our next steps,” he stated.
The meeting follows the contentious Finance Bill 2023, which sparked widespread outrage among Kenyans.
Raila is one of the leaders who has openly criticized key Bill suggestions, particularly those that attempt to impose new taxes on Kenyans.
Raila said in a statement outlining the primary issues he has expressed concerns about, the most of which are in the Finance Bill 2023, that he is not the only one who would be affected by the increased taxes that the current administration proposes to levy on certain commodities.
The opposition leader accused the current leadership of personifying his criticisms of national issues in order to confuse the populace.
“The issues I have been canvassing alongside all Azimio Party leaders are not about me or any of my co-principals,” Raila stated.
The Azimio meeting on Tuesday is likely to map the course for delaying and sabotaging Ruto’s contentious Finance Bill, as well as to address the bipartisan negotiations that were suspended by the Azimio coalition last week.
