President William Ruto has warned ‘hustlers’ not to be deceived about the housing levy by employed Kenyans.

Ruto stated on Friday at the Embu University SMEs, Cooperatives, and Revenue Expo that employed people are opposed to the Housing Fund because they have an alternative.

“Yule akona mshahara anakuambia upinge mambo ya Housing Fund, wewe unapinga umsaidie yeye asilipe na wewe ukose nafasi ya mtoto wako kupata kazi… “Wakeni utapeli,” Ruto exclaimed.

The President asked Kenyans who are employed and get a monthly paycheck to allow others to benefit from the scheme.

“Sisi ambao tumebarikiwa na tukona mshahara tuwe na utu ili mtoto wa mwenzako apate ajira,” he declared.

He went on to say that the project will benefit all Kenyans and that they should embrace it.

“The real motivation behind the housing project is the jobs we will create for Kenyan youth.” “We’ll need five young people to help build each house,” he stated.

Ruto included the Housing Levy in the Finance Bill 2023, stating that every Kenyan will be required to contribute to the fund.
