Pepe Reina, a former goalie for Liverpool, has advised Vinicius Jr. to act “more maturely” in light of the recent racism issue that has rocked Spanish football.

During the La Liga encounter against Valencia on Sunday at the Mestalla, Valencia supporters racially assaulted the Brazilian winger for Real Madrid.

However, Villarreal player Reina stated the Brazilian should act more maturely and not “provoke” his opponents’ fans. He added that Vinicius would acquire more respect if he desist from “provoking” rival supporters and arguing with the referee.

Reina, 40, criticized the racist taunts and demanded a lifetime ban on the offending fans, but she stressed that “Spain is not racist.”

Reina added in her conversation with Marca: “Any racist behavior must be halted first and foremost. However, I do not think that racism is present in every stadium in Spain or that a certain stadium is racist as a whole.

“Those four, eight, or a thousand who referred to Vinicius as a “monkey” must be put to death.” The fact that this occurs is sad.

Having said that, I can see that there are times when it’s not only racism; it’s not a matter of whether a fan is racist or not; rather, it’s that they vent their frustration on a certain player because he can say too much at one moment.

In general, you will be treated with greater respect the less you irritate the crowd, the less you annoy your opponents, and the less you complain to the referee.

I believe Vinicius ought to act more maturely and with more respect for his opponents. He can’t be in a war every time he plays away from home.

Reina responded when asked if he believed racism existed in Spanish football by saying, “There is racism in England, France, and Italy… and we must fight against it, actively and resolutely.” Keep them out of soccer.

Because there are “dummies” in numerous sectors, example consequences must be used: stadiums must be closed, and games must be stopped.

“That seems ideal to me, but I also believe that not all racism is.

Despite some morons’ racist attitudes, Spain is not racist, or at least not more so than other nations.
