Pastor Ezekiel Odero of the New International Church has added nine more attorneys to his legal team just hours after regaining access to his bank accounts in an effort to prevent President William Ruto’s administration from connecting him to the Shakahola massacre.
Young and seasoned lawyers, like Danstan Omari, Cliff Ombeta, Stephen Mogaka, Litty Kathurima, Martin Swiga, Paul Muchiri, and Elizabeth Mungui, make up the newly increased team.
Others were Wycliffe Omayid, Michelle Omwoyo, Elkana Mokua, Elkana Musyoki, Judith Kerubo, Shadrack Wambui, and Anita Masaki.
The attorneys have been tasked by Pastor Ezekiel to take all reasonable steps to prevent the State from connecting him to money laundering and the Shakahola Massacre.
In a letter to Director of Criminal Investigations Amin Mohammed, the team has already urged him to advise his officers to avoid getting in touch with Pastor Ezekiel personally.
“Ev. Ezekiel Ombok Odero (hereafter referred to as our client) has given us the go-ahead to write you regarding the aforementioned and the following.
Part of the letter addressed to DCI Amin stated, “As you may know, we have been the preferred and trusted legal representatives of Pastor Ezekiel Ombok Odero from the 27th of April 2023 when your officer inter alia forced his arrest in the pretext of initiating criminal investigations against him.
The thirteen attorneys argued that Pastor Ezekiel had the right to live in peace without being periodically harassed by the investigators’ never-ending questions.
It was stated that the investigators had been to the Mavueni Complex on multiple occasions and were already making Pastor Ezekiel’s life challenging.
On Monday, a group of DCI detectives set up camp at the Mavueni complex and questioned Pastor Ezekiel while examining the material they had gathered.
