Following his hosting of foreign diplomats, notably US Ambassador Meg Whitman, at his office in Nairobi, former President Uhuru Kenyatta has put State House on edge.

In addition, the delegation included Bernard Quintin, the deputy managing director for Africa for the European Union, and Valentin Zellweger from Switzerland.

The meeting was held shortly after he denounced President William Ruto and his administration for attempting to seize control of his Jubilee Party and pressuring him into retirement.

The discussion, according to insiders, was focused on a number of topics, including Uhuru’s duties as the region’s peace envoy.

The meetings were dominated by Uhuru’s efforts to promote peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The diplomats were brought up to speed on the situation by the Azimio chair in a progress report.

The meeting took place a day after Uhuru presided over the Jubilee National Delegates Convention (NDC), where he declared his intention to never leave politics. It was not immediately clear, though, whether the group discussed the political climate in the nation.

The chairman of Azimio claimed that after ceding authority to Ruto, he had intended to leave politics.

He later changed his mind, however, in response to recent developments involving party leadership disputes.

“Others decided that it would be intimidation and force, and today I tell them to get someone to intimidate and not Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said.
