Douglas Pereira, a former Barcelona right-back, was detained after firing a gun into the air at a Brazilian parking lot.

The 32-year-old is reportedly being tried for the alleged April 21 incident in Brasilia, according to the Brazilian daily Globo Esporte.

According to reports, the former U-20 international for Brazil had been drinking on a boat at Lake Paranoa when he got into an argument with the other passengers and fled.

Football Espana claims that Douglas then arrived at Club Esportives Sul’s sports campus after traveling through a woodland with an unauthorized firearm.

Security at the institution allegedly requested him to leave after he ‘aggressively’ accosted numerous individuals before firing the gun into the air in a parking lot.

The player was allegedly caught by police after concealing the revolver in a nearby thicket, but the weapon was never found.

Prior to going on trial in Brazil, Douglas was reportedly held and released on April 23.

For unlawfully carrying and using a firearm, the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Criminal Justice filed a case against Douglas.

He moved to Barcelona from Sao Paulo in 2014 for an estimated £3.4 million plus add-ons.

He only made eight appearances throughout his five years with the team, and he was loaned out to Sporting Gijon, Benfica, and Sivasspor.

When he departed the Turkish team last year, he joined Besiktas, where he only made seven appearances. Since then, he has been without a club.
