An 11-year-old judo champion who had been “doused in gasoline” and imprisoned in a shed that had been set on fire by “envious” bigger kids was burned alive as a result.

After a disagreement on Friday, May 19, Albert Umbetyarov was discovered imprisoned in a shed in the nearby woods in the Dubovaya Roschcha neighborhood of Moscow, according to Russian investigating authorities.

Argumenti was told by a witness that the perpetrators battered the victim nearly to unconsciousness with bats, doused him in gasoline, and then imprisoned him in a shed that they then set on fire.

The horrible scenario was recorded on video by a group of girls who were believed to have uploaded the footage and streamed it online. The attackers were apparently between the ages of 13 and 15.

Another witness claimed that because Albert was a talented Judo athlete and “was doing better than them,” people attacked him “out of envy.”

After the attack, a local told the media that “there was a fight… one of the younger children who witnessed it said that the victim was beat at his knees so he could not run, or even walk.”

The bigger kids attacked Albert, and one of the boys in the group fled.

Later, it was said that nearby, younger children, ages six and seven, ran to adults for assistance.

One of his friends’ fathers claimed that his son had fled the scene before the horror and had later returned to discover Albert had been killed by fire.

The father, Alexey, recalled, “At 7 o’clock he called me in tears.” “My friend burned to death in the shed,” he said to me. I visited there. I could see fire. By that point, no one was still in need of rescue.

He claimed that men had tried to save the youngster by pushing their way through the fire with shovels but had arrived too late.

Alexander Tvanba, the boy’s judo coach, described Albert as’smart and very gentle, he wouldn’t disturb a fly. He put in a lot of effort and never experienced any problems. He excelled in many competitions.

He asserted that if Albert had been awake, he would not have been able to push his way out and that he thought Albert would have been unconscious.

According to the Russian Investigative Committee, “On May 19, 2023, children locked the shed from the outside and nailed the door after locking a boy inside after a fight.

Then a fire broke out. Initial investigations indicate that [the fire started] inside the shed. Children requested assistance after being unable to open the door.

“The boy’s body was found inside the burned shed when help arrived.”
Alexander Bastrykin, the chairman of the committee, declared last month that a “general rise in crime is underway” in Russia.

We observe a pattern where minors are committing major and especially grave offenses.

In addition, he noted that “young people are increasingly committing extremist crimes,” with a “sharp increase” in 2022 and 2023 “following the beginning of the special military operation” in Ukraine.
