Sir JIM RATCLIFFE, a Manchester United bidder, has risen to second place on the Sunday Times rich list, with a worth of £29.688 billion.

with a fortune close to £30 billion, has moved up to second place on The Sunday Times Rich List.

Ratcliffe, the chief executive of the chemical business INEOS, recently made an offer to purchase Manchester United from the Glazers.

The Qatari industrialist Sheikh Jassim, who made a final “take it or leave it” offer to buy the club, is the 70-year-old’s fiercest rival.

Ratcliffe, who was ranked 27th on the Sunday Times Rich List for 2022, is now just behind the Hinduja family in the 2023 ranking with wealth estimated to reach £29.688 billion.

Robert Watts, the creator of the Rich List, told PA that this year’s information regarding the full scope of INEOS’ revenues gave him confidence that the company is now worth at least £40 billion.
