After being charged in court, the woman who was accused of breaking into her lover’s car and TV over cheating suspicions has spoken out.

On May 17, 2023, Imelda Mwendwa Kigunda was charged before Kibera Principal Magistrate Renee Kitagwa. She refuted all the allegations.

The accused was ordered to be released on a Sh100,000 bond or an alternative Sh50,000 cash bail by the magistrate.

She ordered that the matter continue on May 31 for pre-trial proceedings and additional instructions.

Imelda asserted she has never been married to or had an intimate contact with the accuser, Vincent Alata, in a post on her Instagram on Thursday, May 18.

“I will defend myself in court when the evidence is complete and in context. I have no desire to present evidence or make a public argument. The truth will support me in due time, she continued.

Mike Sonko, a former governor of Nairobi, meanwhile offered to assist Imelda.

He added in a Facebook post, “Fellow men, you can’t punish a woman you have been chewing for breaking things when she finds you chewing another woman.”
