Raila Odinga, leader of the Azimio One Kenya Alliance, has urged his supporters to prepare for the mother of all protests on Monday, after police barred him from entering the Jacaranda grounds on Thursday.
Raila told the press at his Karen home that unless the Kenya Kwanza government addresses their concerns, including the high cost of living and electoral reforms, he will have no choice but to mobilize more protests.
“We are very reasonable people, and we believe that we have very valid reasons why we need to have a conversation, but in the absence of the other side’s willingness to cooperate, these demonstrations will continue,” Odinga said, adding, “On Monday, there will be another demonstration.” This will be the mother of all demonstrations, regardless of what our detractors say or think.”
Raila further insisted that he won last year’s election in which he accused President William Ruto of stealing his vote.
“I am saying that the IEBC servers must be opened so that we can know the truth,” he said, calling for the reinstatement of four commissioners who had disavowed the election’s final results, which they claimed were rigged in favor of Ruto.
Odinga appealed the results to the Supreme Court, but his petition was denied due to a lack of evidence.
He has slammed the ongoing effort to re-establish the electoral commission, claiming that “it is an exercise in futility unless all players are involved.”
