Simba Arati, the governor of Kisii County, has asked Azimio leaders and supporters to recognize William Ruto as the country of Kenya’s fifth president.

Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio, has been asserting that he does not recognize Ruto as president.

Arati, however, promised the President that he will collaborate with him to carry out his vision for the people when he welcomed Ruto to South Nyanza on Thursday.

The county’s governor is a crucial friend of the opposition and has previously held Azimio demonstrations where attendees promised never to recognize Ruto as president.

During the inauguration of the Kegati water project, Arati informed Ruto that “we can only have one president at a time.”

The governor compared the election on August 9 to a football game between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio, which Ruto won thanks to a contentious goal.

We were playing, Your Excellency, and even if you scored with your hand, it still counts as a goal because you are the President.
