Patrick Vieira has been fired as the first-team coach of Crystal Palace, the club has announced.

The decision was made following a poor stretch of play for the Eagles in 2023, who have lost all 12 of their games since the new year.

It is with great regret that this difficult decision has been made, according to a statement from club chairman Steve Parish on the club website.

We felt a change was required to give us the best chance of maintaining our Premier League status because, ultimately, recent results have put us in a precarious league position.

That being said, Patrick has had a significant impact since joining us in the summer of 2021, and I, along with all of his colleagues, have nothing but the highest regard for him.

‘He led the team to an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley and a respectable 12th place finish last season playing some exciting football, which was a difficult and important campaign for the club given the changes we made to the squad before his arrival.

“We all thank Patrick and his team for their service. Patrick has given his all to the club.”

Osian Roberts, Kristian Wilson, and Sad Agoun, members of Vieira’s coaching staff, were also confirmed by the club to have left the organization.

The process to name a new manager is still ongoing, according to the club’s statement.
