Cleophas Malala, Secretary General of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), has urged former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to put his family on the frontlines of his planned March 20th mass action.
According to Raila Odinga, the purpose of the protest is to put pressure on President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance government to lower the high cost of living.
In response to Raila’s demonstrations, Malala, a former Kakamega County Senator, said Raila should first line up all of his family members on the frontlines of his maandamano before asking other people’s children to join him.
Malala stated that a section of Kenyans have approached him, saying they are tired of protests and that Raila should put his daughter Winnie Odinga and son Raila Odinga Jnr on the frontlines.
“I was surprised yesterday when I heard the ODM leader declare March 20 as a public holiday.”
“As Secretary General of the ruling party, I would like to inform Kenyans that today is a working day,” he said.
Malala urged Kenyans to go about their daily lives as usual and instructed Raila to rally his family members for the protests.
