Gideon Moi, the chairman of KANU, has suffered a major setback after former KANU Secretary General Nick Salat joined President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Salat stated on Tuesday that he has abandoned the independence party in favor of the United Democratic Alliance, and that UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala will make the announcement public in the coming days.
Salat was expelled from KANU last month after being accused of serious misbehavior.
To fill Salat’s position, KANU appointed its National Executive Director, George Wainana, as acting Secretary General.
Salat proclaimed his support for President William Ruto earlier this year.
Salat apologized for going against the aspirations of the people and stated that he will immediately begin campaigning for the Head of State to ensure he obtains his two terms in office.
