Two football players were killed after being struck by lightning during a friendly match in the Manyansi area of Kisii County’s Kitutu Chache North Constituency.
Manyansi FC and Gianchore FC both lost a player in the incident, which occurred around 4.30 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
However, police in the area said they had not yet been informed of the tragedy.
Evans Akanga, chair of the Kitutu Chache North Football Kenya Federation, stated that the players were killed during the friendly tournament.
Two other players are being treated for injuries at Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital after being rushed there for emergency treatment.
