A Florida man is facing multiple charges after he shot his roommate after noticing him naked in his teenage daughter’s room.
Dayne Victor Miller, 44, was arrested at his home early Wednesday after calling police and admitting to shooting at his two adult roommates through a closed bedroom door, according to Cape Coral police.
Miller told dispatchers that he fired at the pair after discovering one of them naked in his teenage daughter’s room, according to the official report.
The adolescent was fast asleep in her bed when she noticed the naked man next to her. Miller’s daughter then went to inform her father of what had occurred.
According to authorities, Miller rented a room in the house to a couple, and both Miller and the couple had been drinking heavily earlier in the night.
According to NBC2 News, the naked man admitted to police that he had been drinking that night and had gotten up to use the restroom. He claimed that after leaving the bathroom, he inadvertently entered the teenager’s room.
The naked man’s wife then woke him up by screaming that he was in the wrong room. The couple returned to their room after he awoke. Miller then entered their bedroom and began banging on the door.
Miller yelled, “I’ll kill you,” after the door was shut and locked behind him, according to NBC2 News.
“Because they’re nice people, we’ve never had any problems. “What happened with his daughter and everything…kind that’s of disturbing,” neighbor Monica Taylor told the newspaper. “I had no idea they were renting out a room in that house.”
Miller, according to police, fired his handgun three to four times into the floor right outside the couple’s bedroom door.
Miller was later charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of weapon possession.
He was still being held by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office as of Friday morning, March 10. He is scheduled to appear in court again on April 10.
