Karabo Monyama, a 15-year-old girl who went missing, was found dead and buried in a little grave in the South African backyard of her 23-year-old boyfriend’s house.
Lt-Col Amanda Funani, a police spokesman, verified the news in a statement and stated that Monyama’s body was found on March 8, 2023.
Funani reported that the lover of the victim had been taken into custody and charged with murder, perjury, and thwarting the course of justice.
The youngster from Cyferskuil, close to Makapanstad, North West province, was last seen around noon on Sunday when she went home to watch soccer at a local field, said the spokesperson. She never made it back home.
“A suspect was detained by Cyferskuil police after the body of a missing teen was discovered yesterday, March 8, 2023. Karabo Monyama, 15, was found dead and buried in a small hole in the backyard of her 23-year-old lover. The boyfriend was detained the same day and charged with murder, lying under oath, and subverting the course of justice. On Friday, March 10, 2023, he is scheduled to appear in Moretele Magistrates’ Court, according to the announcement.
