One of President William Ruto’s close aides has stated that they are not finished with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who was released unconditionally by DCI on Tuesday after being detained for 8 hours.
Matiangi was summoned to appear before DCI on Tuesday morning, but he was detained after refusing to sign a charge sheet charging him with publishing false information and conspiracy to commit a felony.
However, he was released at 4 p.m., which irritated Nandi County Senator Samson Cherargei.
Cherargei, who was arrested in 2022 on incitement charges on Matiang’i’s orders, said it was payback time and prayed that Matiang’i be imprisoned and forced to eat the famous prison beans so that he understands power is fleeting.
“Matiangi appears to be scared before the real game begins. Despite several court orders, including mine in April 2022, he used to insist as CS Interior that police are always right. He was on the run from the law.
“Si akule maharagwe kidogo jamani kama mahubusu wengine,” said Cherargei.
