Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has failed to appear at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices on Kiambu Road for the second time.

Despite the fact that he was anticipated at the DCI for questioning after secretly returning to the nation from ‘exile,’ he did not appear.

According to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Matiang’i fled the country for fear of being grilled by DCI and may never return.

Matiang’i, on the other hand, traveled back to the nation on Saturday, much to the astonishment of Gachagua and Kenya Kwanza minions, and is due to appear at DCI Headquarters today.

Yet, Matiang’i failed to appear at DCI Headquarters as scheduled, generating more questions than answers.

A spot check revealed that routine operations were still taking place at the DCI headquarters, with a line of Kenyans waiting for a Good Conduct certificate, among other services.

Attempts to contact Matiang’i’s lawyer, Danstan Omari, were unsuccessful because he did not return phone calls.

Omari had referred to a statement dated March 1, 2023, which stated that Matiang’i was not instructed to present at the DCI headquarters through the proper channels.

“He is not aware of any investigations against him, but believes that constitutional offices are free to carry out their duties; and that he, too, has the right to due process as a citizen of this nation,” the statement stated in part.

DCI officers familiar with the situation told the media that they did not expect the former CS to appear at their offices.
