Police in Nairobi have initiated an investigation into the death of a 22-year-old patient who is suspected to have jumped from the seventh floor of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Timothy Kinuthia, the deceased patient, jumped on Thursday at 1 a.m., while the other patients were sleeping.
The hospital’s security personnel reported hearing a loud bang on the ground floor.
As they went to investigate, they discovered Kinuthia’s body on the floor.
Before the body was moved to the city morgue, police officers were called to the site.
The referral hospital’s seventh and eighth floors house patients with communicable disorders such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, pneumonia, and tuberculosis (TB).
The hospital has yet to publish a statement regarding the patient’s stay at the facility.
