Today, President William Ruto declared that his administration is making every effort to cut the high cost of living in the nation.

At the Women Fund’s launch on Thursday at the KICC, Ruto declared that his administration would cut the cost of cooking gas from Sh 2000 to Sh 300 by the end of the month of June.

The new price, he continued, will range from a minimum of Sh300 to a high of Sh500.

“I have promised that beginning in June, plans would be in place to make sure that women use clean energy. The tax on gasoline will be eliminated as our first action. To enable more Kenyans to have gas access, the government’s eight percent cut will be eliminated.

“Kenyans are already paying Ksh2,800 for gas, and we’re promising to invest government funds in the industry. “The 6kg will cost Ksh 500 or Ksh 300,” said Ruto.

On the other hand, he issued a warning to shady businesspeople who intended to abuse the policy, warning them that they would be scrutinized.

Some people are quite cunning; they claim to have replenished a 5kg gas can when, in reality, it only holds 3kg of gas. All of these people need to be fired from this company, he insisted.

After opening the Taifa Gas plant in the Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone in the Likoni Constituency, Ruto made the statement.
