After being recovered by cops from Ruiru and Nakuru, a university student from Egerton who had been abducted five days earlier was reunited with her family.
Fourth-year student Daisy Chebet Barno was kidnapped by three males on Thursday in Kabarak, Nakuru County.
Later, she was taken by car to Nairobi.
Her best friend Faith Mwende was one of four suspects who were apprehended at the Ruiru Airbnb apartment where they had been holding her captive.
DCI said in a tweet that Chebet’s friend Faith Mwende plotted to abduct her and extort a ransom from her family with the help of her boyfriend and other accomplices.
Her family was being asked for Ksh 600,000 by them.
The four people in the leased apartment came under attack by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau.
The criminals refused to comply with orders to submit and started fighting with the officers.
They were eventually defeated and taken into custody.
