In response to allegations that she is one of those spreading the gonorrhea that has swept through Nairobi, gospel singer Justina Syokau has responded strongly.

On Facebook Live, Justina was asked about the claim that she was a super-spreader of the Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI), and she questioned why this was the case.

She stated:

This needs to be resolved once and for all. Some people have claimed that I introduced gonorrhea or this particularly severe strain to Kenya. Please let me know what you comprehend and know in the comment area. Tell me what super gonorrhea is, just tell me. I’m quite angry because I feel so angry. Never before have I felt the way I do now.

Share this broadcast with the individuals who claim I brought gonorrhea to Kenya. Tell me how I’m spreading gonorrhea and how I’m being held responsible for it in Kenya.

Nothing irritates me more than hearing someone refer to gonorrhea, do you know what that is? Tell me what gonorrhea is, where it has been discovered, and why people are talking so negatively about my music. In my song, someone mentions gonorrhea. How is it possible that my singing caused gonorrhea?

Nairobi’s super gonorrhea outbreak was first reported by the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) earlier this year.

The drug-resistant gonorrhea was discovered in a sample collected from one of the 24 sex workers in Nairobi, per the KEMRI report.
