In order to commemorate his 93rd birthday, Buzz Aldrin married the love of his life.

In front of a small gathering of close friends and family, the 93-year-old American former astronaut married 63-year-old Anca Faur in a tender ceremony.

Former engineers and fighter pilots shared two pictures from their special day to announce their engagement. One image showed the happy couple inside their wedding site, with Aldrin donning a sharp suit adorned with an Air Force badge and a medal.

“On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be recognized by Living Legends of Aviation I am thrilled to report that my lifelong love Dr. Anca Faur & I have sealed the marriage,” Aldrin posted on Twitter to his 1.5 million followers.

“We are as excited as eloping teens after being united in holy matrimony in a tiny private ceremony in Los Angeles.”

Messages of congratulations flooded in after their announcement.

Next to a honey moon after going to the moon. Congratulations, colonel!” read one.

One more said, “WOW! Colonel Aldrin, congratulations! At 93, life truly begins! Best wishes.

Aldrin had three divorces from previous marriages.

In 1969, Aldrin became the second man to ever set foot on the moon.

He went on the Apollo 11 mission with Michael Collins and Neil Armstrong.
