The first meeting between President William Ruto and his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta will take place following the presidential election on August 9.

For the Third Inter-Congolese Consultations of the Nairobi Peace Process, Uhuru and Ruto will get together at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi (Nairobi III).

Uhuru and Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye will preside over the opening ceremony.

Nairobi III follows Uhuru’s official trip to Kinshasa and Goma, DRC, for the Mini-Summit on Peace and Security in the Eastern DRC, where he served as the East African Community’s facilitator.

Ruto declared Uhuru had committed to continue the job of ensuring there is peace in the area during his first speech as head of state.

Ruto stated, “I have requested my elder brother President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has done outstanding engagement with those regions, to continue chairing conversations on behalf of the Government of Kenya, about peace initiatives in our region, in Ethiopia, and the Great Lakes region.
