An Associate Professor of Film at Columbia University, Racquel Gates, has asked men to stop proposing to women on the day they are being celebrated for an achievement.
In a tweet thread, Racquel said the day a woman is being celebrated for an achievement she worked for is not the time to propose to her.
She also advised women to break up with their partners if they ever do this.
While some people agreed with her, others said she should not be telling women what to do in their relationships.
