Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko switched from Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance to Raila Odinga’s Azimio on Saturday.
This was after he had exhausted all of his options for getting the IEBC to clear him to run for the governor of Mombasa seat in the August election.
The troubled politician blamed Raila Odinga and his Azimio for his problems with the IEBC not clearing him.
Sonko and his group were extremely irate with Raila as a result of the action. In fact, the Sonko squad was seen on camera yelling as they ripped Raila Odinga’s logo from his automobiles.

Sonko’s men can be heard in the video cursing the former prime minister and declaring that he will never be president.
“Shuka, President Kwenda na hata hutakuwa. Oh, kwenda… Mzee Baba wewe. President Shuka Wetu Aingie As it takes down the Raila banners from the cars, the squad can be heard yelling, “Ruto ndio president wetu.”
Sonko asked Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to support Ruto during his maiden campaign tour in Kitui County after switching to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, arguing that Raila has no regard for the Ukambani region’s interests.
Sonko criticized Baba when explaining his decision to replace Raila with Ruto, claiming that Baba has no regard for the Kamba community.
“Raila doesn’t care about the Kamba people in any way. He only identified Hassan Joho as the Lands Minister when he revealed his anticipated government positions at the KICC. Do you know what role Ngilu or Kibwana will play in his administration? Is there any reference to Kamba in the list? None. Additionally, I informed Kalonzo that there is no such post as chief minister, Kalonzo stated.
