Following his absence from the 2022 presidential discussion on Tuesday at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has finally spoken out.

Raila said that his decision to skip the debate was the right one yesterday when speaking at an Azimio gathering in Laikipia County.

Deputy President William Ruto, who was present at the debate, allegedly scored an own goal, according to Raila.

The phrase “Jana alinifungia mimi bao katika goli yake.” Raila said to a raucous throng in Rumuruti, Laikipia, “Alipiga pekee yake.”

The ODM leader stressed throughout the rally that he could not argue with a “thief,” promising to reclaim the 16,000 acres of land in Laikipia that belonged to the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC), which he said Ruto had taken.

The debate is nikasema mimi siwezi enda kuongea na kufanya.

In the meantime, Ruto struggled to answer inquiries during the presidential discussion about the judiciary, debt, security, cost of living, governance, and his purported thirst for land.

He claimed that Raila was unable to attend the debate because he had no strategy for Kenyans, despite appearing to blame certain failings on the handshake and President Uhuru Kenyatta in his second term.
