The Azimio party, led by former prime minister Raila Odinga, has once more suggested that it would abstain from the general election on August 9.
This comes after Martha Karua, Raila’s running mate, raised doubt about the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and its ability to hold a free and fair election on August 9.
Speaking yesterday at the inauguration of the Million Women Voters for Martha effort in Nairobi County, Martha implied that the IEBC could not be trusted to conduct legitimate elections since it had not been open about the electoral process up to that point.
The commission must rebuild trust within itself, according to the “Iron Lady,” before Kenyans will have faith in them.
