In Meru, Deputy President William Ruto will easily defeat Raila Odinga of Azimio.
This is supported by the most recent and most comprehensive opinion survey, which revealed a growing gap between Ruto and Raila.
According to the Mizani survey, Mithika Linturi of Ruto’s UDA is the most well-liked candidate and is most likely to win the governor’s race with fewer than 32 days till the August 9th general election. This could force Raila and his camp to start again.
If elections were held today, Linturi would win with 32.3 percent of the vote. Kawira Mwangaza, a Meru Woman Representative and Independent Candidate, would come in second with 29.4% of the vote. With 28.1 percent, current governor Kiraitu Murungi of the Devolution Empowerment Party, which is affiliated with Raila Odinga’s Azimio, would move up to third.
With 53.3 percent of the vote, UDA senatorial candidate Kathuri Murungi is far ahead of the competition. Joseph Arimba of Azimio is in second place with a pitiful 23.5 percent.
