Junet Mohamed, a member of parliament for Suna East, has provided additional information regarding the alleged plots Kenya Kwanza Alliance made to rig the election.
During a series of Azimio campaigns with former prime minister Raila Odinga, Junet claimed that Wetangula and the head of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Wafula Chebukati, met in Karen to discuss ways to rig the August election in favor of William Ruto.
According to Junet, Ruto and Chebukati instructed Wetangula to meet with the directors of the Greek company manufacturing the ballots in order to request the addition of extra ballots that would be marked in favor of Ruto and his close supporters.
Voting papers, according to Junet, are essential components of every electoral system, thus Wetangula and Chebukati should settle the issue.
“According to your plan, you intended to use ballots that have been marked in Uganda but have not yet crossed the Ugandan border. All of your plans, including the meeting you had with Chebukati in Karen, are known to us, Junet added.
“Speak up and let Kenyans know where you stand on the issue. Key tools in the electoral process include ballots.
“We know what you did in 2017 and we don’t want elections to be disqualified again,” Junet added.
