The phony degree scandal involving embattled Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has changed course.
The investigation into Sakaja’s alleged Bachelor of Science in Management degree was halted because Teams University, which is located in Uganda, filed a lawsuit to do so.
Reportedly, the university requested an order from Justice Jamson Karemani of the High Court in Kampala to prevent the Ugandan Council for Higher Education from looking into the purported degree.
The university requested that “a temporary injunction be ordered prohibiting the respondent from looking into, questioning, or otherwise interfering with the qualifications awarded to the application.”
The Ugandan Council for Higher Education had started an investigation into the validity of Sakaja’s Team University degree, but it has since stood aside to allow Uganda’s Inspectorate of Government to conduct its own investigation.
The little-known Team University came to light after Sakaja insisted he earned a Bachelor of Science in Management (External) from the Kampala-based school despite the available evidence proving otherwise.
