William Ruto, a presidential contender for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, has charged Raila Odinga with defending governors who have embezzled public monies.
Speaking on Wednesday in Sololo, Marsabit County, Ruto claimed Raila was dining with dishonest governors and even using the fruits of corruption to finance his campaigns.
Stop being a swindler; you have no right to lecture us about corruption while funding your campaign with dirty money. You cannot educate on corruption while dining with corrupt people, remarked Ruto.
The DP asserted that Raila has been defending corrupt governors from prosecution.
Wewe ndio umezuia magavana ambao wameiba pesa za umma, wacha kuongea mambo ya ufisadi. Ruto said, “wanakuja kwako unawaficha ilimgawane ile pesa wameiba.”
The comments from the deputy president came amid criticism of Ruto from the Raila Odinga-led Azimio coalition for what they see as his lack of an anti-corruption strategy.
The second in charge was accused by the leaders of failing to mention how he intended to combat corruption in his manifesto.
