Both Raila Odinga of the Azimio party and William Ruto of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance have engaged digital specialists to help them win the upcoming presidential election, which is expected to be heavily influenced by technology.
DP Ruto, who is running for president for the first time, has hired Davis Chirchir, a well-known former IEBC data expert, while Raila has engaged George Njoroge, the CEO of East African Data Handlers.
Chirchir is a well-known computer expert who holds an MBA from Royal Holloway, University of London, as well as a Bachelor of Science in science from the University of Nairobi.
Mr. Njoroge, on the other hand, graduated from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology with a degree in information and communication technology and an MBA in international business. The International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners also counts Mr. Njoroge as a member.
When comparing the two, Chirchir comes out on top because he was previously the Head of ICT at the IEBC and has vast experience in election matters.
After it was claimed that Chirchir had hacked the IEBC systems in favor of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mr. Odinga was accused of playing a role in the rigging of the election in 2013.
