Rigathi Gachagua, a Mathira MP, is without a doubt a loose cannon. The running mate of Deputy President William Ruto has been making rash and provocative comments that have done more damage to Ruto’s presidential campaign than good.
Ruto no longer has much faith in Gachagua as a result of this.
Speaking in Tharaka Nithi County, Ruto implied that he has no confidence at all in Gachagua to handle the presidency.
This comes after he said Gachagua won’t succeed him after his two terms as president are up.
According to what he has observed, Senator Kithure Kindiki of Tharaka Nithi, whom he conned out of the running mate position in favor of the affluent Gachagua, will succeed him in 2032.
In preparation for the 2032 General Election, the DP informed the locals that he was preparing the Senator for a much larger role in national politics.
Adding that Kindiki was still a young and aspiring politician, he urged the locals not to get incensed that he didn’t get the running mate position.
“I know some of you were upset when I indicated Kindiki wasn’t a good candidate for the governor’s office. You want this man to run for office locally after narrowly missing out on the running mate position?
“Gachagua, Justin Muturi, and I are old people, and when we end, we’ll make room for Kindiki and other young people,” Gachagua said. Prior to that, however, we must make plans for them and advise them on how to proceed so that they can improve through mentoring. It will be their time once we have completed our ten years. Are we on the same page?” The DP stood.
