Due to safety concerns, Ghislaine Maxwell will be constantly watched in her new prison after receiving a 20-year prison sentence on Tuesday, June 28.
The 60-year-old convicted sex trafficker will probably complete her her term at the federal prison in low-security Danbury, Connecticut, which served as the model for Orange Is The New Black.
The British socialite may be a target in the jail known as “Club Fed” for its opulent inmate programming since she is a notorious sex offender.
According to Maxwell’s legal team, a fellow prisoner had previously been paid to strangle Maxwell while she slept in Brooklyn, and there had even been concerns that a sniper may shoot her to death.
She was put on suicide watch out of fear that she would follow her ex-lover Jeffrey Epstein in killing herself in jail, in addition to the potential violence from other prisoners.
White-collar crime partner at Day Pitney Sarah Krissoff stated to the MailOnline:There is no doubt that Maxwell dealt with challenging conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center, particularly in light of the fact that she was imprisoned during Covid.
