Peter Munya, the cabinet secretary for agriculture, was accosted by irate locals in Nkubu, Meru County, forcing him to end his address.
Munya was one of the Mt. Kenya leaders who had camped out in the town in August to rally support for the Azimio administration.
Residents of Nkubu turned Munya and his colleagues away and informed him that the neighborhood is a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) stronghold and Deputy President William Ruto’s political base in the video, which has since gone viral.
Munya and his team were forced to depart the town feeling defeated as a result of the villagers’ chants of praise for UDA and Ruto.
Munya’s heckling comes one week after the Azimio squad, which includes Raila Odinga and Martha Karua as his running mate, camped out at Kinoru Stadium and had a sizable rally there on Saturday.
The following video shows Peter Munya and his group receiving abusive jeers in Nkubu, Meru County.
