Rigathi Gachagua, the running partner of Deputy President William Ruto, has disclosed the source of Raila Odinga’s campaign funding.
One of the formidable candidates vying to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in August is Raila.
Gachagua claimed on Thursday that money taken from COVID-19 during the infamous Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) scandal is being used to fund Raila Odinga’s campaigns.
Kenyan taxpayers lost more than Sh 10 billion in 2020, yet nobody has ever been detained in connection with the fraud.
Those named in the controversy included David Murathe, vice-chairman of the Jubilee Party, Gladys Wanga, a representative for Homa Bay, Junet Mohamed, a lawmaker for Suna East, and members of the First Family.
According to Gachagua, the Kenya Kwanza government will make sure that everyone who stole KEMSA money is held accountable and must pay back all the money they stole from underprivileged Kenyans.
