Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, a candidate for governor of Mombasa, has accused Rigathi Gachagua, the running partner of Deputy President William Ruto, of being responsible for the demise of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).
Abdulswamad asserted on Thursday that Ruto and Gachagua have no plans to restore the port, accusing them of being directly responsible for its demise.
Gachagua was dared to claim that he had not entered the KPA boardroom by Abdulswamad, a Mvita Member of Parliament, who also asked that KPA funds be transferred to Central.
Gachagua, who was then a member of the Parliamentary committee, asserted that KPA funding ought to be distributed to central Kenya because the area is in charge of 60 percent of the nation’s taxes, but residents of Mombasa are merely ticks who rely on the payments.
Abdulswamad stated to Rigthi Gachagua, “You are the one who said that KPA money should be taken to Central, deny it.” “When you visited the KPA boardroom where discussions for the expansion of Mombasa were taking place.”
The MP urged Mombasa locals to have faith in former prime minister Raila Odinga, who has pledged to revive the port for the sake of the city’s citizens.
