After a routine tonsil operation left a former Miss Brazil in a coma for two months, she passed away at the age of 27.

Gleycy Correia, a beauty queen from Macae in southeast Brazil, passed away on Monday, June 20 in a private facility.

Only a few days after having her tonsils removed, she reportedly experienced severe bleeding and a heart attack.

“She had surgery to remove her tonsils, and after five days at home, she suffered a hemorrhage,” family priest Lidiane Alves Oliveira said.

“She went to Unimed and experienced a heart arrest on April 4. She has been in a coma ever since, showing no signs of neurological activity. She passed away today.

The Forensic Medicine Institute of Macae received Gleycy’s body to conduct an autopsy.

Her relatives think there was medical negligence committed during the operation, according to Pastor Jak Abreu, who is acquainted with her family.

God picked this day to take our princess home, he remarked.

“We are aware of how much she will be missed, but her grin will now be lighting up the skies.”

A wake for Gleycy was conducted at 7.30pm on Monday and her burial took place at 11.30am on Tuesday, June 21.

Thank you so much to everyone who prayed, said Pastor Abreu.

“May the Lord hear and answer each loving prayer during the course of these days.

“She achieved her goal and left a loving legacy for us. Please include the family and friends in your prayers so that the Holy Spirit might comfort them at this trying time.

In 2018, Gleycy won the title of Miss United Continents Brazil.

She was a businesswoman with a focus on permanent makeup.
