Martha Karua, the running mate of former prime minister Raila Odinga, was once more in Mt. Kenya in search of votes that would elect Baba as Kenya’s fifth president.
While in Kirinyaga, Karua became aware of the region’s abiding animosity of Raila, who the locals have never supported since time immemorial.
She fervently urged the people of Mount Kenya to reject President Uhuru Kenyatta in favor of his handshake partner Raila Odinga.
“I am aware that residents of this area have not consistently supported Raila Odinga in elections. But this time, I kindly request that you support him by voting for him on my behalf,” Martha Karua stated.
By claiming to have the answers to Kenya’s problems, Karua gathered support for the opposition figure who has been in office the longest.
She assured the residents of Mount Kenya that she would completely represent them in the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya government that Raila Odinga would establish.
She promised to completely represent her constituents in Odinga’s administration and to vote for the Azimio presidential candidate.
Just a few days prior, the former Gichugu MP urged legislators in the Mt. Kenya area who supported the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya alliance to resist intimidation and either support Raila’s candidacy for the State House or resign.
“Either you’re with us or you’re not. Some politicians in Azimio are requesting their support, but when it comes to the presidential campaign, they advise voters to make their own decisions, which we will not tolerate, said Martha Karua.
