William Kabogo, a former governor of Kiambu County, has defended former prime minister Raila Odinga, who is charged with orchestrating the stoning of Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday at Jacaranda Grounds.

Francis Mureithi, a candidate for the Embakasi East parliamentary seat, was among those hurt during the melee.

Speaking after the chaos, Ruto charged the former prime minister with organizing thugs to disrupt his gathering.

However, Kabogo, who talked with NTV on Monday, asserted that since there was no evidence connecting Raila to the events, it was incorrect to suggest that he was the mastermind.

He noted that politicians occasionally enjoy devising their own assaults in an effort to get support from the public.

“I’m not sure, therefore I can’t declare that it’s Raila Odinga. You know that sometimes we politicians plan such mayhem to get the public’s compassion. I’m not certain if it’s Raila. I’m just offering you choices. It is unnecessary, but I have no confirmation that it is Ruto or Raila,” stated Kabogo.
