Mama Ngina Kenyatta, the mother of President Uhuru Kenyatta, has for the first time explained why her son had a disagreement with William Ruto, his deputy.
The President and his deputy had a falling out in 2018, according to Mama Ngina, who spoke with one of the local dailies.
According to the former First Lady, Uhuru and Ruto argued after the latter realized that, despite being the commander in chief of the armed forces, Uhuru was being disrespected.
“Uhuru didn’t have an issue with Ruto, but would you stay there if his subordinate treats you disrespectfully?” after learning about their split with Ruto. She said that was when Uhuru made up his mind to go.
Uhuru turned against Ruto after the bitter breakup, and he currently opposes his presidency in August.
The Head of State is presently running a campaign for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s August election.
The bigger Kenyatta family, according to Mama Ngina, is supporting Raila Odinga’s bid for president in August.
