While her two children waited in the van for her to take them on vacation, a mother fell 50 feet to her death.
On Monday, June 13, the 36-year-old Janetina was planning to go to Naxos with her husband and their two young children, ages 5 and 2.
The mother reportedly went back to retrieve another suitcase from their apartment but discovered the door blocked after her children were loaded into the car with their baggage and an aunt.
She then rang her neighbor’s doorbell to ask permission to climb up onto their balcony, leap over to her own balcony, and enter her home.
According to her neighbors, the mother has successfully jumped between balconies numerous times previously.
She is thought to have fallen this time between the third-floor balcony and ended up in a courtyard behind a building in the Pagrati neighborhood of Athens, Greece.
She was taken by ambulance to the hospital, but there was no hope for her.
After the tragedy left two children without a mother, neighbors spoke on local television about their shock.
On social media, friends also paid tribute.
