Deputy President William Ruto and his supporters questioned Raila Odinga’s academic credentials to run for president. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has replied.
Raila Odinga had been challenged by Ruto to be transparent about the university from which he received his degree through the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary-General Veronica Maina.
But according to IEBC CEO Marjan Hussein, Kenyan presidential contender Raila Odinga of Azimio la Umoja-One complied with all legal requirements.
Raila’s academic credentials had been thoroughly investigated by the polling organization, according to Marjan, who also noted that he would not have been permitted to run for president if he had not met the necessary academic standard.
“You may have noticed that IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati served as the returning officer for clearing presidential candidates. Raila Odinga complied with all legal obligations, according to Marjan.
Just a few days prior, notorious attorney Miguna Miguna demanded that the Wafula Chebukati-led committee release a copy of the original of Raila Odinga’s undergraduate transcript before approving his release.
Wafula Chebukati, please clear this first. Can you publish the authentic copy of Raila Odinga’s diploma from a Kenyan institution if he decides to run for president? not diploma booklets. Not citations.
Just a real degree, that’s all,” Miguna Miguna wrote on Tuesday, May 31.
According to reports, Raila has a mechanical engineering degree from Germany.
