After it was revealed that Johnson Sakaja, a candidate backed by William Ruto, has a fraudulent degree, Azimio candidate Polycarp Igathe for Nairobi governorship insulted Johnson Sakaja.
As a result of Sakaja’s inability to name a classmate, many social media users started chatting about him, with several Kenyans asking for his academic papers.
At one point, online users urged Sakaja to provide evidence for his assertions that he graduated, such as images from his graduation.
Some Kenyans posted pictures of their graduations on social media to encourage the UDA politician to provide proof that he attended the ceremony.
Polycarp Igathe took on the problem head-on.
Igathe openly shared photos of his graduation day, making fun of Sakaja’s predicament.
A lean-looking Igathe posed next to his old classmate Elias Mbugu in one of the pictures, who was wearing a torn suit.
“With my buddy Mbugu Elias on the day of our graduation. Tumetoka mbali! ” Igathe captioned the photo.
In another, Charles Macharia and the former Nairobi deputy governor may be seen wearing graduation gowns.
On graduation day, December 1995, here I am with Charles Macharia, also known as “Man Mash,” Igathe said.
Igathe was undoubtedly subtly encouraging Sakaja to post similar images to support his claims that he attended Team University.
